OptimizeBy Context and By Page

By Context and By Page

See which pages AI answers draw on for each topic, and which of your pages fail technical and AI-readiness checks.

By Context and By Page are two ways to look at the same question: why AI answers pick other pages over yours. By Context works per topic. By Page works per page, using your latest site audit.

Everyone in the workspace can view both pages. Owners, Admins and Members with full access can add or hide pages. Actions that fix or create something open the AI assistant, which depends on your plan.

How it works

By Context

A context is a group of related prompts for one country and language. Opttab names contexts automatically a few minutes after you add prompts. The list groups them by country and language.

For each context you see three lists of pages:

ListWhat it shows
Your PagesYour own pages for this topic: pages cited in answers ("Cited in answers"), sitemap matches on the address, title, description or keywords ("Sitemap · URL", "Sitemap · title" and so on), and pages you added ("Added by you").
Competitor PagesCompetitor pages cited in answers for this context, marked "Cited" or "Not cited", with their mentions.
Third-Party PagesOther sites cited in answers for this context, with the same details.

For the prompt you're viewing, you also see Sources, Citations, Mentions and Intent. A value Opttab hasn't found yet shows "Not found yet".

Use By Context

Pick a context

Open Optimize › By Context. Filter the list with Search Contexts, then pick a context. It appears under Selected Context.

Step through its prompts

Use Previous prompt and Next prompt to move between the prompts in the context.

Review the opportunities

Under Select Opportunities, filter with All, Content or Outreach. Each row shows "Impact score". Press a row to open the AI assistant with that task, if your plan includes it.

Add a missing page

In Your Pages, press Add Page. Enter the Page URL (it must start with https://) and an optional Title, then press Add page. To remove a page from the list, use Hide from this list.

The first time you open a context, reading your website can take up to half a minute. After that, Opttab re-reads your sitemap at most once a day, and the page lists refresh when new answers arrive.

By Page

By Page shows the results of your latest site audit, page by page.

What the site audit checks

Opttab crawls your website and runs a set of technical SEO and GEO checks. (GEO, generative engine optimization, means making your pages easy for AI engines to read and cite.) It checks:

  • your site files: robots.txt, sitemaps, llms.txt and ai.txt;
  • DNS and certificate, redirects from http to https, and apex versus www;
  • each page's metadata, indexability, links, structured data (including FAQ markup), images and response codes;
  • whether AI crawlers are allowed in;
  • optional agent conventions, such as llms.txt or markdown versions of pages. These are reported as adopted or not adopted. Not adopting one is never counted as a problem.

If Google Search Console is connected, the audit also checks indexing, sitemap registration and the health of your cited pages. A few checks stay "not checked" because they need server logs or a signed-in session.

Each finding has a severity and lists the pages it affects. Opttab deliberately doesn't roll these into a single "GEO score".

When the audit runs

  • Opttab audits your website automatically once, after onboarding records your website.
  • Only one audit runs per workspace at a time.
  • Each audit checks up to 40 pages. How many pages your audit covers depends on your plan and setup.
  • Running a site audit is part of the Technical GEO feature, which depends on your plan. See Plans and billing.

Read By Page

Check the summary

Open Optimize › By Page. The Site audit card ("Audit of date") shows Pages audited, Pages with issues, Failing checks and Site files healthy.

Check your site files

Chips show Robots.txt, Sitemap.xml, AI.txt and LLM.txt as Healthy, Missing, Not checked or Unreachable. Press Open name to view a file. For a missing file, press Generate: the AI assistant drafts the file and tells you where to publish it. Opttab doesn't host the file for you.

Pick a page

Use Search Pages or browse the tree. Pages are grouped by sitemap, plus "Found by the audit" for pages your sitemap doesn't list. Each row shows "n issues", Passed, Broken link or Redirects.

Fix issues

On the GEO tab, checks are grouped by category (for example Crawlability, Metadata, Structured data, AI access, Answer readiness) with an impact level from Critical to Info. Tick the checks you want, or Select All, then press Fix selected. The AI assistant explains exactly what to change on the page.

Check the agent page

The Agent Pages tab shows this page's agent page. If there isn't one, press Create agent page. Otherwise press Open on Agent Pages. See Agent Pages.

You can press Hide on the summary card to collapse it to Website Health chips. This choice is remembered in this browser only.
