Credits
Understand AI assistant credits — what they measure, what spends them, where to see your balance and what happens when they run out.
Credits measure how much of Opttab's AI assistant your account uses. One balance covers everyone in the account, and it resets each billing period.
Your monthly credit allowance depends on your plan — see Settings › Billing. Some plans include unlimited credits.
How it works
What a credit is
One credit equals 0.01 USD of AI model and tool cost. A short question uses little. A long task that reads lots of data or writes a full document uses more.
The balance belongs to the account, not to a single person or workspace. It renews at the start of each billing period — your subscription period, or the calendar month if you have no subscription.
What spends credits

Check your balance
Chat Usage card
Open the Chat tab in the sidebar. The Chat Usage card at the bottom shows the share of credits used this period, or Unlimited.
Composer chip
In a chat, the chip next to the message box shows your remaining credits out of your allowance.
The chip turns amber when less than 25% is left and red when you reach zero. On unlimited plans it shows Unlimited credits.
When credits run out
When the balance reaches zero:
- Chat stops answering and shows "Your account has used its agent credits for this period".
- AI ad copy and image generation stop working until the next period.
- Your website shopping assistant tells shoppers it isn't available right now.
Everything else in Opttab keeps working. Your balance refills automatically when the next billing period starts. There is no way to buy extra credits in the app — to get a larger allowance, an Owner or Admin can change plans in Settings › Billing.
