This page walks you through fixes for the most common issues Opttab users encounter. Work through the relevant section below — most problems can be resolved in a few steps without contacting support.
  1. Check that the extension is enabled. Open your browser’s extensions page (chrome://extensions in Chrome, about:addons in Firefox) and confirm that Opttab is toggled on.
  2. Disable and re-enable the extension. Toggle it off, wait a moment, then toggle it back on.
  3. Reload the current page and try opening the Opttab panel again.
  4. Reinstall the extension. If the panel still won’t open, uninstall Opttab from your browser’s extension store and reinstall it from the official listing.
  1. Confirm you’re signed in to the same account on both devices. Open the Opttab panel and check the account avatar to verify the signed-in email address.
  2. Check your internet connection. Sync requires an active connection on both devices.
  3. Verify that sync is enabled. Go to Settings → Account and confirm the sync toggle is on.
  4. Force a manual sync. Go to Settings → Account → click Sync Now.
  5. Sign out and sign back in on the affected device to force a fresh sync from the server.
Cross-device sync requires a Pro plan. If you’re on the Free plan, workspaces are stored locally only.
  • Another extension or application may be claiming the same shortcut. Try clicking the Opttab icon first to bring the panel into focus, then use the shortcut.
  • On browser-restricted pages (such as chrome:// URLs), the browser blocks all extension shortcuts. Navigate to a regular page and try again.
  • You can remap the shortcut to something else: go to Settings → Shortcuts.
  • Restart the browser and try the shortcut again.
  • Suspended tabs may not index immediately. Unsuspend the tab and wait a moment before searching again.
  • Confirm that “Include workspaces in search” is enabled: Settings → Preferences → Search.
  • Incognito/Private tabs are excluded from search by default. To include them, enable Opttab in private browsing mode via your browser’s extension settings, then reopen those tabs.
  1. Refresh the panel. Close the Opttab panel completely and reopen it.
  2. Force a fresh sync. If the workspace still appears after refreshing, sign out and sign back in. This pulls the latest state from the server and removes any stale local data.
  • Enable tab suspension. Go to Settings → Preferences → Tab Suspension and set a shorter inactivity timeout so unused tabs are suspended automatically.
  • Archive tabs you no longer need. Large workspaces with many active tabs use more memory. Archive tabs you’re not actively using to reduce the footprint.
  • Check other extensions. Open your browser’s task manager to see if a different extension is the primary memory consumer.
The Integrations section is available on the Pro plan only. To access it, upgrade your subscription: go to Account Settings → Subscription.
You can preview which integrations are available on the Opttab pricing page before upgrading.
