No. You can use Opttab in local-only mode without signing in — your workspaces are saved to your current browser only.Creating a free account enables cloud sync and automatic backup so your workspaces are safe even if you reinstall the browser or switch devices.
Without an account, your workspaces are not backed up. If you uninstall the extension or clear browser data, local workspaces will be lost.
Opttab accesses tab titles and URLs only, and only for the purpose of organizing and searching your tabs. That data is encrypted in transit and at rest.Opttab does not track the content of pages you visit and does not share your data with third parties.See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Your workspaces are preserved when you downgrade to Free. However, only 5 active workspaces are available on the Free plan. Any additional workspaces are automatically archived.Archived workspaces are not deleted — they’re restored immediately if you re-subscribe to Pro.
Before downgrading, export any workspaces you want to keep accessible. Right-click a workspace → Export to save a local copy.
Yes. Right-click any workspace → Export, then choose your format:
  • JSON — download a file you can import into any Opttab account.
  • Shareable link — generates a URL that opens all tabs in a new session when clicked.
To import a JSON file, go to Settings → Workspaces → Import.
By default, Opttab does not have access to Incognito windows. To enable it:
  1. Open chrome://extensions (or your browser’s equivalent).
  2. Find Opttab and click Details.
  3. Toggle Allow in Incognito on.
Tabs opened in Incognito mode are never saved to your workspaces, even with this setting enabled. They remain private.
  1. Install the Opttab extension on the new browser from the relevant extension store.
  2. Sign in with your existing account.
Your workspaces and settings sync automatically within a few seconds.
Cross-device sync requires a Pro plan. On the Free plan, you’ll need to export your workspaces and import them manually on the new device.
Workspace sharing via export links is available on all plans — share a link and anyone with Opttab installed can open the full set of tabs in one click.Dedicated team features — shared workspaces and team accounts — are coming soon. Follow the Opttab changelog to be notified when they launch.
